Nico Edel (1901 – 1972): A vintage Gentlemen’s fashion advertising poster, for Oxford shoes manufactured by ‘Roland’ footwear.c
Printed circa 1940s, on original period linen backing.
The poster features printed artists name to top left corner “Edel”
Dimensions: The poster itself 25½ x 37 inches (65 x 94cm), framed and glazed in wooden frame heightened with gilt.
As per the artist name in the top left corner believe this poster was designed by artist Nico Edel. Nico Edel (1901-1972) was a Swiss artist known particularly for his work produced in France and Italy, both as an illustrator and interior designer.
Edel was director of marketing for drinks manufacturer Cinzano during the 1940s, and produced a number of poster designs for them.
Condition report – This shoes poster is on vintage linen backing and has some cracking/ distressing. Displays well.
