Early Hollywood Cinema: A rare 1920s American cinema advertising poster ‘It’s Goldwyn Week, Let’s Go!’, promoting Goldwyn Pictures (prior to merger which formed Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer), U.S one-sheet format, colour stone lithography, printed by J.H. Tooker – New York, linen-backed,

dimensions 27 x 41 inches (686x1041mm)

It is believe that the poster refers to Goldwyn Pictures, which existed from 1916-1924 when it then famously merged with Metro and Louis B Mayer’s company to form Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). The fashionable individual on the poster appear to be dressed in style from around 1924. J.H. Tooker were a prominent printer at this time, producing all posters for Vitagraph.

It is possible that the poster is promoting a season of films produced by Goldwyn Productions which formed in 1923, and were distributed by First National and United Artists during 1923-1926. Goldwyn Productions existed until 1959.
