Vintage Illustration Art/ Mid Century Design: An original 1950s concept design painting believed for textiles or wallpaper, titled “Sonia Delaunay” and dated 1955.
The design is painted in gouache and pencil on paper, mounted to paper. The painting features repeating abstract pattern in green colours, inspired by abstract artist Sonia Delaunay. The reverse bearing possible artists name “Jean M. Freeman“.
Dimensions: The paper the work is mounted on 52cm high x 36.5cm wide, the painting itself 30cm x 30cm.
Sonia Delaunay (1885-1979) was an important French artist and design known for her membership of the Orphism art movement. During her career Delaunay was known for her designs, produced for textiles, wallpaper and costumes. We believe that this piece was inspired by the artist work.
