The Midland Rail Company existed from 1844 40 1922 when it became part of ‘London, Midland & Scottish Railway’ (LMS). The Midland Rail Company was a hugely successful enterprise. Their success meant it was able to fund the construction of many lines and hotels including The Midland Grand Hotel (now the St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel).
