Edgar Norfield (1895 – 1977): An original satirical cartoon captioned “No dear, it will all happen in that place at the back”. The cartoon depicts two ladies looking up at a large stand being constructed in front of Westminster Abbey, London. We believe the artwork relates to the Coronation ceremony of HM Queen Elizabeth II, in June 1953. The drawing was possibly created for Punch magazine or similar publication.
The original artwork in ink and pencil on paper mounted on board, signed by the artist to lower right.
