About

Goodenough House is one of the lost examples of mid-century architecture in London. It was located on 33-44 Old Broad Street, London. The building was named after Frederick Craufurd Goodenough (1866-1974), the first Chairman of Barclays Bank between 1917-1934.

The building featured the Barclays emblem to the exterior (visible here). We believe it was built around 1960 as the new headquarters for Barclays Bank D.C.O. (Dominion, Colonial and Overseas).

However it was demolished during the early 1990s to make way for a modern office block. The 33 Old Broad Street site is now Lloyds Banking Group offices.
